WANTED: 15-18 Year Old Camp Directors for Summer 2017

Are YOU Interested in Running a Camp in YOUR community? In 2016 I teamed up with Hale Lieberman, a then 16-year-old from Bethesda, MD, and together we organized a camp in his home town. This is something that I encourage for everybody to do. My goal is to help as many kids as possible, but I can only do this with your help. If you’re in high school and on a soccer team and want to run a Jacob’s Soccer Camp in your community, reach out to me and together, we can help kids with disabilities by sharing our love of the game. There are a few things that you would be responsible for, but don’t worry, I’m always here to help!

Field. The first place I would look for a field would be your club fields. These are the fields that you spend the most time at, meaning it’d probably be easiest to lock down a field there. If you’re unable to do this, then consider other options, such as a nice facility near you, or a local high school or university.

Volunteers. Getting volunteers is typically the easiest part of running the camp. In the past, my soccer teams have all been eager to help out. Teams see the camp as a nice way to give back to their communities, and so getting volunteers is pretty straightforward.

Coaches. Similar to youth volunteers, getting coaches is one of the simpler steps. Again, this is community service, and people really want to give back to their communities. In order to keep a consistent high caliber of coaches, I recommend starting by reaching out to college and club coaches. I would also reach out to the Director of Coaching at your state youth soccer association to see if he/she has any recommendations.

Depending on how many soccer camps are running and what the dates are, I’ll try to attend the camp. I can provide you with training on how to coach kids with disabilities along with a sample schedule for you to base your days off of. I’ll provide shirts for the campers along with medals and certificates for the end of the week. I’ll also be contacting the Major League Soccer club closest to you in hopes of bringing out a professional soccer player to meet and help train the kids. I hope that you’re interested in bringing Jacob’s Soccer Camp to your area, and I hope to be speaking with you soon! My contact information is below:
